REGENERATIVE FARMING

The Practices that Make our Products Special

Over the past few years we as a farm have been learning about a new way of farming our land. This practice is called regenerative farming. The main goal is to make our soils healthier.

Traditional farming methods use lots of tillage, high rates of synthetic fertilizers and chemicals, and grow only one crop at a time (monocrop), and have no livestock on the land. All these practices lowers organic matter, bio-activity (such as bug life and pollenization), and overall health of the soil.

However, throughout creation we see diverse crops, ground that’s always covered with many growing plants, no synthetic inputs, and at one point huge herds of herbivores.

Because of this, we are now using what we call cover crops, which are a diverse mix of plants that cover the soil and each add a soil health benefit. We are also trying hard to reduce synthetic inputs everywhere possible, and we graze cattle, sheep, and hogs on the land.

This is making our soil healthier, which makes our livestock healthier, which makes you healthier as you eat Creekside meat.

We are very excited about this and encourage you to come and see what where doing! Feel free to get in touch if you'd ever like to learn more, or come for a tour of our land.
